Oreos are a great tasty treat for humans but are bad for cats. Cocoa and chocolate is one of the major ingredients of classic Oreo cookies. Cocoa is also a major component of chocolate. Chocolate is universally bad for both cats and dogs so Oreos also come under this category. The other ingredients inside Oreo cookies such as sugar, flour, vegetable oil, high fructose corn syrup, wheat, and soy.
Since cats are obligate carnivores or born meat eaters that cannot get proper nutrition without eating meat, it’s safe to say that there isn’t much nutritional value in Oreo cookies for cats. What About Golden Oreos?
Golden Oreos look more like traditional cookies and do not contain cocoa or chocolate. Although this eliminates the risk of toxicity from cocoa ingredients, the other ingredients in common with classic Oreo cookies make it a very unhealthy food for cats.
