Tofu Lost a Leg. He Gained Control of the Kitchen Faucet. His Owner Is Losing Her Mind.

Imagine checking your security camera and watching your cat — a cat with three legs, no less — reach up with a single orange paw, flip the kitchen faucet handle, and stroll away while the water runs.

That’s a Tuesday for Brianna Terry.

Her cat’s name is Tofu. He’s a three-legged orange tabby with a talent that nobody asked for and everybody on the internet can’t stop watching. At some point, Tofu figured out how to turn on the kitchen faucet. Not to drink from it. Not to play in it. Just… turn it on and leave.

The footage, captured on a home camera while Terry was out, shows the whole operation in under ten seconds. Tofu hops onto the counter, reaches for the faucet handle, pulls it toward him with one deliberate paw, and the water flows. Then he drops to the floor and walks away without looking back.

Brianna’s reaction when she first saw it? Pure disbelief.

“He really doesn’t have a lot of brain cells,” she told ABC News, “so for him to figure out how to do that, I’m like, ‘wow.’”

That quote alone tells you everything about living with Tofu.

He lost one of his legs — details Brianna has kept private — but whatever he lost in limbs, he made up for in audacity. The missing leg hasn’t slowed him down. If anything, it seems to have sharpened his focus. Where other cats might chase a laser pointer or knock things off shelves, Tofu chose infrastructure.

The videos racked up millions of views across TikTok, Facebook, and multiple news outlets. Comment sections filled with people tagging friends, sharing their own cats’ unhinged habits, and debating whether Tofu was a genius or a menace.

The consensus: both.

Since Tofu hasn’t shown any interest in stopping, Terry had to get creative. Her solution? She wraps the faucet handle in a headband every time she leaves the house. A headband. On a faucet. Because a three-legged cat outsmarted the plumbing.

“So far, it’s working,” she said.

For now.

If you’ve ever come home to a mysteriously wet counter, an overturned glass, or a bathtub that was definitely not running when you left — you already understand. Cats don’t need four legs to cause chaos. Some of them only need one paw and an unattended faucet.

Tofu couldn’t care less about the water bill. He couldn’t care less about the headband. He’s an orange three-legged cat with exactly one party trick, and he will keep performing it until someone builds a faucet he can’t crack.

The internet is rooting for him.
