Pomegranate seeds are not a meaningful cat food. A cat that steals a few plain seeds is usually not in immediate trouble, but the fruit does not belong on a regular menu and should stay a rare nibble at most.
Why to keep it tiny
Pomegranate seeds can be awkward to chew and may cause choking or mild stomach upset, especially if your cat eats a larger amount. Pomegranate juice, syrups, and desserts are a worse idea because they add sugar and other ingredients cats do not need.
What to skip
Do not offer pomegranate peel, leaves, stems, or anything sweetened with it. If the seeds are part of a mixed dessert or smoothie, the other ingredients matter more than the fruit itself.
If your cat stole a few seeds
If it was only a couple of plain seeds and your cat seems normal, monitor for vomiting, diarrhea, drooling, coughing, or gagging. Call your veterinarian sooner if your cat ate a lot, swallowed a wrapper or peel, or the food was sweetened or heavily processed.
What to feed instead
